The closure of the Strait of Hormuz has caused a severe jet fuel shortage in Europe, forcing major airlines to cancel flights and ground planes. IEA chief Fatih Birol warned Europe has 'maybe six weeks or so of jet fuel left.' The crisis has also exposed a Franco-German diplomatic split: France is leading planning for a 'strictly defensive' mission to secure Hormuz that explicitly excludes the U.S., while Germany is pushing to involve Washington in the effort ahead of a leaders' summit in Paris on Friday.
