Colombian activist wins Goldman Prize for protecting Magdalena River from fracking
Yuvelis Morales Blanco, a 24-year-old rights-of-nature defender, has been awarded the Goldman Environmental Prize for her role in halting fracking along Colombia's Magdalena River, one of the most biodiverse waterways on Earth. Raised on the river's banks, Morales Blanco faced death threats and exile as a result of her advocacy work.
