China Urges IMF to Defend Multilateralism and Reform Quotas Amid Trade Tensions
People's Bank of China governor Pan Gongsheng called on the IMF to take a clear stand against protectionism and act as a bulwark against 'rising unilateralism' at the fund's 53rd IMFC meeting. He also pressed for quota reform and stronger IMF surveillance of advanced economies at a time when trade restrictions and Middle East conflict threaten energy and food security.
