TRELLIS.2 Image-to-3D Model Ported to Run on Apple Silicon Macs
A developer successfully ported Microsoft's TRELLIS.2, a 4-billion parameter image-to-3D model, to run on Apple Silicon via PyTorch MPS, eliminating the requirement for an Nvidia GPU. The port involved replacing CUDA-specific operations with pure-PyTorch alternatives across nine files, and generates approximately 400K vertex meshes from single photos in about 3.5 minutes on an M4 Pro chip.
