Magnitude 5.0 Earthquake Strikes Nagano Prefecture in Central Japan
A preliminary magnitude 5.0 earthquake hit the northern part of Nagano prefecture at 1:20pm local time on Saturday, registering upper 5 on Japan's seismic intensity scale — strong enough to make movement difficult without support. The Japan Meteorological Agency recorded the quake at a depth of 10km, with no immediate reports of damage.
