Close‑in Planets May Eject Rogue Worlds, New Models Suggest
Phys.org describes theoretical models in which planets that orbit very close to their stars act as gravitational "bouncers," flinging other planets into interstellar space and creating free‑floating rogue planets. The models predict rogue planets could be 19 times more common than planets beyond the snow line. The research was reported on May 4, 2026.
